Crisis - Concern - Conceptual Issue |
Spatial Mapping of a ProcessThis, like Transit-Transfer-Transform, is a model of change. This model depicts How things change using a map in space. It is a flow model involving three different kinds of flow, which attempts to clarify what happens inbetween when one becomes vaguely aware of a situation through when it becomes critical or disasterous.
Where Transit-Transfer-Transform maps the transition of events over time, this model maps awareness over time. It corresponds to some degree to this model as follows: The Conceptual Issue may continue in Transit, may Transfer and become a Concern, and then be Transformed into a Crisis, during which coping is still attempted. After Crisis is disaster or catastrophy.
|
Conceptual IssueWhen a problem, dispute, issue or limitation might be thought about or sensed (possibly unconsciously or not fully in conscious awareness), perhaps as a vague complaint or something to be looked at; a trend or event worth paying attention to.It is viewed over a longer Time with events predicted as possibilities as a result of knowledge of How Things Work. A Conceptual Issue (along with Concern) is part of a SetUp. A Conceptual Issue Transits to becoming a Concern.
|
Less ConsciousLess in conscious awarenessor more unconscious.
|
ConcernWhen a problem, dispute, issue or limitation is thought about (mostly in conscious awareness), as something of concern. It is viewed over a medium term in Time with events predicted as probabilities as a result of knowledge of How Things Work. A Concern (along with Conceptual Issue) is part of a SetUp. A Concern Transfers to becoming a Crisis.

What-How-Why |
CrisisWhen a problem, dispute, issue or limitation has reached a critical stage and is fully in conscious awareness. Things in the future are likely to be a disaster.
It is viewed over an immediate term of Time with events considered predictable as a result of knowledge of How Things Work. This is an UpSet.

How It Works |
DisasterOnce bad things happen; a catastrophy; the Crisis is over. This is the SetDown.

Exercises1. Take an event or series of events in your life which spans a period of time and which eventually ended in a crisis. Identify Transit, Transfer and Transform. Note if there are more than one Transfer. Can you detect Hows in the total series of events? Any Whys? At which points(s) are Hows (and Whys) clarified?2. Take the same sequence in the first exercise, but now move backwards from the Transform, through Transfer, to Transit, and see if additional detail becomes evident.
